The originality—and boldness—of Philippe Plet's commentary on the Apocalypse lies in its transcendence of the limits of historical interpretation. Saint John did not write the Apocalypse solely for us to understand the events of his time (the Roman Empire persecuting Christians).

The apostle was inspired to transmit to believers of all times a universal vision of the grand and tragic confrontation between Light and darkness. John introduces us to the heart of the mystery of spiritual warfare in which all humanity is engaged.

This commentary leads us on the path of Hope: it is the reward (and the ultimate weapon) granted to those who refuse to serve the Dragon.

The enigmatic symbols that John deploys throughout his prophecy are theological realities to be contemplated deeply. Philippe Plet provides, in a manner as accessible as it is erudite, the keys to unveiling what until now remained in the realm of mystery (the two Beasts, the number of the Beast, Babylon, etc.). AUTHOR Philippe Plet, born in 1960, is a Passionist priest (Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ).

He is rector of the Marian sanctuary of Notre-Dame du Cros (Aude), where he carries out preaching and spiritual direction activities.

He is the author of several books, including: Saint Paul of the Cross, Spiritual Director (Nouvelle Cité, 2009); Saint John, The Book of Seven Secrets (Anne Sigier, 2008); Praying Fifteen Days with Saint Paul of the Cross (Nouvelle Cité, 2005).
