Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt. Her family emigrated to the Netherlands in 1933. In Amsterdam, she experienced a happy childhood until 1942, despite the war.

On July 6, 1942, the Franks went into hiding in the "Secret Annex" of the building at Prinsengracht 263. On August 4, 1944, they were arrested after being denounced.

Deported to Auschwitz, then to Bergen-Belsen, Anne died of typhus in February or March 1945, shortly after her sister Margot.

The young girl kept her diary from June 12, 1942, to August 1, 1944, and her testimony, known worldwide, remains one of the most moving accounts of the daily life of a Jewish family under Nazi rule.

This edition includes previously unpublished pages.

📖 Review from the Ancient Grimoire Bookstore

By our editorial & librarian committee

The Diary of Anne Frank transcends mere historical testimony to become a universal text on the human condition in the face of oppression. Written between 1942 and 1944 in hiding in the Secret Annex in Amsterdam, this intimate diary of a Jewish teenager fleeing Nazi persecution has become one of the most widely read and translated documents in the world.

What gives this text its unparalleled strength is Anne's own voice: clear-sighted, sensitive, full of hope despite the horror surrounding her. Her diary reveals a young girl in search of identity, inner freedom, and meaning, even in confinement. Her ability to preserve her humanity, intellectual curiosity, and faith in the future constitutes an act of spiritual resistance of rare power.

This Livre de Poche edition, enriched with previously unpublished pages, allows for a more complete insight into Anne's intimacy and the complexity of her experience. Beyond the duty of remembrance, this diary reminds us that the light of consciousness can shine even in the darkest of times.

We recommend this work as essential reading for all generations. An indispensable testimonial book that honors the memory of Anne Frank and all victims of the Holocaust, while celebrating the resilience of the human spirit.

Our rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — A universal and timeless testimony, a literary and spiritual monument of the 20th century.
