By Bruno Traversi (University of Paris) and Alexandre Mercier (Professor of Physics)
With a foreword by Antonio Sparzani, theoretical physicist at the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics.

- Is there a "hinter-world", a world behind the world as we ordinarily experience it? If so, what is its nature?
- Yes, and it is "psychophysical" and based on the principle of synchronicity, answer Jung and Pauli.

The book presents the little-known yet essential relationship between quantum physics and Jung's theory of the collective unconscious. The two fields seem, at first glance, absolutely different... And yet, C.G. Jung collaborated for more than 25 years with W. Pauli (Nobel Prize in Physics in 1945), one of the fathers of quantum physics.

According to them, behind appearances, there exists a "neutral hinter-world", meaning it is both physical and psychic, and indifferent to the arrow of time. The laws of this "prior" world can be approached through quantum physics, through depth psychology, but also, on occasion, through certain altered states of consciousness, through "visions" that Jung and Pauli call "Imaginatio vera".

This study leads us to the edges of reality, of the visible and the invisible, by connecting physics, psychology, and alchemy. It follows on from the famous Cordoba colloquium which brought together scientists from around the world to try and understand what connects mind and matter.

The study is based on several accounts of visions and experiences of this "hinter-world": on the dream-like "visions" of Pauli and Jung, first of all, and of certain "visionaries" like the Japanese Ueshiba Morihei, the Sufi Ibn'Arabi (and Henri Corbin), or Paracelsus, but also of "ordinary" people.

Texts compiled by Bruno Traversi and Alexandre Mercier for a transdisciplinary approach.

The study delves into the origins of quantum physics and Jung's depth psychology.
