The Virgin Mary in Medjugorje: the history, controversies, fruits, and messages

On September 19, 2024, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith published a note giving a positive opinion on the spiritual experience lived by pilgrims to Medjugorje. The author, who converted there, thus proposes to rediscover and update our knowledge of this important pilgrimage site.

Drawing on the lives of the six visionaries and their parish priests at the time, Father Jozo Zovko, Father Slavko, and the role of the Franciscan friars, he delves into the message and charisma of this Bosnian village. Without overshadowing the controversies mostly linked to the first two local bishops, Zanic and Peric, and the historical context of Bosnia, he testifies to the fruits received. Himself touched by grace, he subsequently became involved in accompanying pilgrims, meeting the visionaries (Vicka, Marija, Ivan, Mirjana), deepening the teachings that the Virgin Mary has given for over forty years, and bearing witness to the graces received.
