Since its publication in 1911, *Concerning the Spiritual in Art* has retained its status as a foundational text. In it, Kandinsky defines the spiritual nature of art by articulating the concepts of "inner necessity," "resonance" and "vibration of the soul," "composition," and "abstraction" in a very specific sense.
This theory, nurtured and illustrated by Kandinsky's artistic practice, also inspired the movement that Philippe Sers called "abstracto-Dadaist," which continues to inspire artists and intellectuals of our time.
Written in 1914 and remaining unpublished, *On the Material in Art* extends this reflection, laying the foundations for a "Treatise on Composition" conceived by Kandinsky.
For the first time, the two texts are brought together, with an exceptional introduction written by Philippe Sers, as well as annotations and a 32-page color album accompanied by comments and diagrams.
