(Meister Eckhart) "Spiritual Counsel" is Meister Eckhart's first book, written when he was vicar of Thuringia and prior of Erfurt, his original monastery (1294-1298).

This treatise is a good introduction to the author, a prestigious mystical figure of the Christian West, who in his time experienced the opprobrium of a heresy trial because "he wanted to know more than was fitting."

Characteristic of Eckhart is the audacity to lead theology towards the vertigo of nothingness, with a radical gesture reminiscent of certain Buddhist texts.
